Spreading the cost of your tuition

Students enrolling at Chisholm for on-campus study may be able to spread their course costs by making part payments via direct debit on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.

Payment plans may be available for students enrolling in any course excluding international and short courses. Payment plans for tuition fee costs are not available for enrolments that are eligible for VET Student Loans or FEE-HELP loan assistance.

Chisholm is working in partnership with Debitsuccess, the largest direct debit provider in Australasia, to help students spread the payment of their course costs.

Costs

The set terms of the direct debit agreements are up to the duration of the enrolment, with the option of weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments. The current additional charges applying for students taking up this option, include:

  • Administration (establishment) fee of $15.00 (non-refundable)*
  • Billing fee of 4.7 per cent*
  • Late payment fee of $14.95 where the payment amount is not received.

*Changes are effective from 29 January 2024.

To find out more about paying your course costs via a payment plan, speak to your enrolling officer at your enrolment session.  There is also more information available for VET Student Loans and FEE-HELP.

Things you should know:

  • Direct debit payment plans are available on all courses excluding short course and for international students. Payment plans are not available for the tuition fee costs of enrolments that are eligible for VET Student Loans or FEE-HELP loan assistance.
  • All or part of the tuition fees, the student services fee and materials fees (where applicable) can be paid via the direct debit arrangements agreed to in the Debitsuccess contract.
  • The direct debit agreement must end before the course end date.  In exceptional circumstances, the payment plan can be extended.
  • The Debitsuccess contract must be completed and signed by the student.
  • If the student is under 18 when applying for the payment plan, a guarantor form must be completed, and the Debitsuccess contract counter signed by a parent or guardian.
  • If the bank account or credit card payment details are not those of the student applying for the payment plan, the ‘owner’ of the account must complete and sign a Direct Debit Authority form.
  • Debitsuccess administration and billing fees are not refundable for any withdrawal.
  • If you do not lodge a withdrawal/refund application within 28 days of your first commencement of the course for the year, you are fully liable for the Debitsuccess debt incurred regardless of whether or not you continue in the course.
  • If you lodge a withdrawal/refund application with Chisholm, within 28 days of your first commencement in the course for the year, you will have your Debitsuccess debt adjusted accordingly but will remain liable for all costs associated with establishing and maintaining your debt up until your withdrawal date.
  • If a student defaults on the Debitsuccess agreement, Chisholm has the right to suspend the enrolment and restrict access to goods and services at Chisholm until the default is rectified.
  • Debitsuccess will contact you directly in the event of a payment default.
  • Debitsuccess takes action towards debt collection in the event of three (3) consecutive defaults of payment.
  • Unless Chisholm is otherwise notified directly by you about any extenuating circumstances, and an approval for payment extension is provided, Chisholm will not intervene in the debt collection process.
  • Payment plans must still be continued to be paid if a student withdraws outside the 28-day refund period.
  • Chisholm will withhold any certification or result statements until the course has been paid in full.

What happens if I withdraw from my course or some classes?

Subject to Chisholm's 'Fees and Charges' and 'Withdrawals, Refunds and Breaks in Study' policies, a student may be liable for all their fees and charges even if they withdraw. If a student withdraws within the refund period stipulated in policies, the payment plan will be adjusted as required. Students remain liable for their payments when they withdraw 28 days after their course commencement for the year.
