Census dates

The census date is the last day you can withdraw from a unit of study and receive a refund on your tuition fee, if you are accessing a VET Student Loan or FEE-HELP loan. You must withdraw or defer before this date to avoid a debt.

There are many accommodation options available for students to live in the communities that surround Chisholm campuses. Depending on your circumstances, you may be seeking a share house, homestay accommodation, a unit to rent or short term accommodation.
See below for some helpful resources to get you started.

Homestay options

If you are new to Melbourne, you may prefer to try homestay accommodation. Homestay involves boarding with a local family, with most meals and expenses included in the cost. Chisholm uses Student Accommodation Services for all homestay enquiries.

The following websites are a good resource for finding a range of accommodation options. Always be vigilant when inspecting accommodation and signing any contracts or agreements.

The Campus Bookstore stocks:

  • A range of textbooks, trade books, second hand books and course materials
  • Art supplies, medical and nursing equipment, hairdressing and beauty equipment
  • Stationery, computer accessories as well as Chisholm merchandise and clothing
  • Discounted movie vouchers for Village and Hoyts cinemas.

When you finish your course you will receive your certificate in the mail. Make sure you keep your address details up to date. To update your details, visit the reception at your local campus.

Certificates are withheld if you have outstanding fees, parking fines or library books/charges.

Computer login details 

Your student login gives you access to all things digital when studying with us. This includes accessing the computers or Wi-Fi network on campus, your student email account, your course work in Moodle and online services and resources.

Please login to activate your account via the Office Portal:

When logging in for the first time you will be prompted to set up your contact information. This will allow you to reset your password yourself in the future.

All passwords have a 90-day expiry period. You can reset your password at provided you have first activated your account via the Office Portal at

If you have activated your account through the Office Portal, when it is time to reset your password you will receive an email or SMS from our IT Service Desk to let you know that your password is about to expire.

Any pre-2019 users who are returning will need to contact ITS to have their password reset as it will have expired and they will not have had the opportunity to set up self-service-password-reset.

You can also report an IT issue through our online portal, ServicePoint. Visit and login with your student account details. Or you can visit the library on-campus for support in-person.

Fees, charges and refunds

Course fees and charges vary depending on the number of tuition hours you are enrolled in. Annual course costs are made up of four areas:

  • Tuition fee
  • Student Services fee
  • Materials fee

Fees must be paid in full, or arrangements for full or partial payment such as VET Student Loans put in place, before you are considered to be an enrolled student.

Chisholm holds an annual graduation ceremony to celebrate the achievements of our graduands each year in March/April. To attend graduation you must apply.

IT support

Students who require IT Support should contact the Chisholm Library. Library staff will be able to provide a broad range of support including:

  • Trouble shooting login and access issues
    Assisting with setting up wi-fi and other services on your devices

Massage Clinic

Support Chisholm student in their training by attending our Student Massage Clinic.

Location: Frankston campus.  Building D.  Level two.

Operating hours (remedial massage):

  • Monday 4pm to 7pm
  • Tuesday 4pm to 7pm
  • Wednesday 4pm to 7pm
  • Thursday 4pm to 7pm

Operating hours (relaxation massage):

  • Friday 3:30pm to 6:30pm

Cost: 60 minute consultation $25

Moodle is our learning management system and our online facility for you to engage in your learning with us. To access your course materials on Moodle you must be enrolled in the course by your teacher.

Access to Moodle is available through the Current Students home page. Use your Chisholm student login details to access Moodle.

Limited student parking is available at most campuses. Parking is free but a current parking permit must be displayed. Permits are available from campus receptions at enrolment. If you misplace your permit, a replacement can be purchased for $12.

Parking is at a student’s own risk and valuable items shouldn't be left unattended. This includes any tools or equipment required for study.

Motorcycles may park in car parking spaces. Bicycle racks are provided at various campuses.

Students who park outside of the designated parking bays, on grass areas or in fleet vehicle areas may receive fines which need to be contested with the issuer of the fine.

Personal details – how to update

Visit your reception and ask for assistance in changing your details – this could be your name, address, phone number, email etc.  You will be provided with a brief form to complete which will then be processed by our staff.

Prayer rooms

Chisholm provides non-denominational prayer rooms for student use.  Rooms are unlocked during operational hours.

Printing and photocopying

Colour and black and white printing, photocopying as well as scanning is available at various locations on campus including your campus Library. You will need your Student ID card to access these services, with funds required for printing and photocopying. Visit your campus Library to load funds onto your card. 

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL or Skill Recognition is an assessment that is undertaken to acknowledge skills and knowledge a student has through:

  • Prior formal training
  • Work experience
  • Life experience

RPL can contribute to you gaining credit towards your new course, shortening the time and cost to complete your course.

At the beginning of your course your Teaching Area will tell you how to access your results.  This may be through Chisholm's results website myResults.

All students are provided with a Record of Results with their certificate upon completion of their course. Additional copies can be requested from your local campus reception and will incur a fee of $10.

The Caroline Chisholm Education Foundations scholarship program is designed to support students experiencing financial hardship to access education. Our scholarship program is customised to meet the needs of each successful applicant.

Students studying any Chisholm course at any campus can apply. There are three funding rounds throughout the year – ensure you apply before the deadline date.

Student ID cards

At enrolment you will receive your Student ID card. This card is essential for accessing many services through the Chisholm Library as well as the printing and photocopying network. Replacement Student ID cards can be provided by Client Services incurring a $10 charge.

Support for apprentices

Apprenticeship Support Officers (ASOs) provide free, confidential advice, support and mentoring to first year apprentices under the age of 25.

Your ASO can help with work, training or personal issues that are affecting your apprenticeship.

Timetables are provided by teaching areas at enrolment or orientation. You can check updates to your timetable online. Simply go to the link below and enter your course group name – this will be provided by your teaching area.

Room numbers on your timetable

On your timetable a room number will be listed. It will be in the following format: Campus, building, level and room. 

So, if you checked your timetable and it listed DA-A105 - you would be at our Dandenong campus looking for Building A, level 1, room 05. The classroom door will display the whole room number i.e. A105.

USI - Unique Student Identifier

From January 2015, each student will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) when studying nationally recognised training to obtain their certificate or qualification from Chisholm. This includes completing an apprenticeship or skill set, certificate or diploma course at Chisholm.

A USI gives you access to your online USI account which will help keep all your training records together. Made up of 10 numbers, your USI will look something like this: 3AW88YH9U5.

Your USI account will contain all your nationally recognised training records and results from January 2015 onwards which will be available in your USI account in 2016.

Students can access Chisholm’s wi-fi network for eligible laptops and devices on campus grounds. All students are expected to abide by the relevant usage policies when accessing the wi-fi network.
