For jobseekers

There are lots of different roles available for people who want to start a career in this growing industry including : 

  • production welding  
  • machine/process operator    
  • fabrication or mechanical apprenticeships   

Priority applications are encouraged from: 

  • women aged 45 and over 
  • parents returning to the workforce 
  • people aged 25 and under  
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people 
  • people from multicultural backgrounds 
  • people with disability, and  
  • other jobseekers facing challenges finding employment. 

Jobseekers are provided with: 

  • dedicated mentoring and on-the-job training  
  • earn while you learn with a minimum of 19 hours a week employment for a minimum of 12 months  
  • in-demand vocational skills 
  • workplace buddy system and professional development 
  • post placement support. 

Jobseekers will be matched with an employer by a dedicated Chisholm project team.

The Jobs Victoria Engineering Project is supporting manufacturing businesses in south-east Melbourne by matching your business needs with suitable jobseekers.  

Jobseekers gain practical skills while working in business, solving your staffing needs and contributing valuable skills to your workplace. 

Employers are provided with: 

  • connections to an employer’s working group and the Employer Ready Program specifically designed to assist employers to meet their workplace legislative requirements and build engaged and inclusive teams 
  • potential new employees 
  • ongoing mentoring, professional development and training for your existing workforce to upskill them in working with new staff 
  • assistance with sector wide skilled and semi-skilled worker shortages  
  • a dedicated Chisholm project team to manage employer relationships.  

Participants must be placed in employment by 31 December 2023. Limited places are available.
