Rising Stars and Dual Diploma Netball Program - Expression of Interest

Chisholm is excited to be seeking expressions of interest in our new Rising Stars VCE & VCAL and dual diploma programs for students with a passion and skill for Netball. The Chisholm Sports Academy Rising Stars program successfully run the AFL and Basketball programs in partnership with Melbourne Football Club at the Chisholm Cranbourne campus, with the aim to facilitate a 2021 Netball program, to commence in February.

The Chisholm Sports Academy allows students to undertake a sports-focused senior secondary certificate that incorporates elite level coaching, supported by a strength and conditioning program. The Sports Academy offers an educational pathway to a dual diploma Sports Academy program alongside a range of other further study and educational pathways.

Chisholm is excited to welcome Robynn Pym as our Head Netball Coach who will lead the practical component of our program.

Robynn has successfully coached high performance netball for 25 years, being involved in State League coaching and the state underage program and is also currently the Head Coach for the Casey Demons VNL team. With her emphasis on athlete management and removing obstacles to assist athletes to be their best as individuals and play in a team sport, we are excited to have Robynn onboard.

VCE Rising Stars

Our Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) is the same qualification as at secondary school. VCE is a two-year program and the Academy offers VCE Units 1 and 2, and 3 and 4. The program is specially designed for you to combine your VCE studies in a highly supportive environment while you pursue your sporting passion.

VCAL Rising Stars

The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) focuses on practical, work-related, industry skills. There are two qualification levels, each one year in duration. Intermediate (Year 11) VCAL includes a Certificate II in Community Services (VCALINT001), and is themed towards the sport and recreation industry focusing on community development, facilitating programs for youth, disability and aged care groups.

Senior (Year 12) VCAL includes a Certificate III in Sport and Recreation (VCALSEN001), focusing on development of skills required by a high performance athlete or sports industry professional. You can enter the program at the Intermediate level after Year 10, or the Senior level after Year 11 (VCAL or VCE).

Diploma of Sport and Recreation Management (SIS50115) Diploma of Sport - Development and Coaching (SIS50319)

When you complete this combined sport (development and coaching) and sport and recreation management course, you’ll be ready to work in the sport and recreation industry or continue into a range of degree studies.

The course has two streams - one for students interested in a generic sport and recreation program to help them identify and prepare for a range of roles within the industry. The second stream is linked to Chisholm's Sports Academy which assists aspiring athletes to reach their full potential in sport and study while providing them the skills and knowledge to gain employment in the sports industry.

During the course, you’ll learn about sports psychology, sports science, sport and recreation program development, group facilitation, event management, sports management, project management, coaching, talent identification and selection, sports technology and developing training programs.
