Learn a full range of skills to assist people with drug and alcohol problems
Are you looking to expand your career opportunities in the Alcohol and Other Drugs Industry? The Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs will give you the skills and knowledge to provide counselling, referral and promotion services to clients.
You will learn about how clients are affected by alcohol and other drugs, the range of services available to them and health issues related to alcohol and drugs use and misuse. This qualification could lead to employment as a social welfare worker, or drug and alcohol clinician.
You will be required to complete a total of 400 hours of industry placement over the course of your studies. If you have already completed some work placement while studying the Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs or are already working in the industry, you may be eligible for some credit hours or to complete your placement assessment in your workplace.
To complete this qualification you will be required to undertake the following unit of competency HLTAID003 Provide First Aid. This unit is not available online, however Chisholm does offer the unit on campus. Please send a copy of your transcript if you have already successfully completed this unit previously.
Students are required to produce a valid Working with Children Check and a satisfactory police check prior to commencement of the course

Admission requirements
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the course commencement. Admission requires the completion of the BKSB assessment with an outcome of ACSF exit level 3 - working level 4, for both literacy and numeracy., Chisholm Online students must also meet the requirements of the Chisholm Online Service Standards - https://www.chisholm.edu.au/study-online/how-studying-online-works/online-service-standards., Please note: Students must be able to produce a clear voluntary Working with Children Check and recent National Police Check is prior to commencing placement., Students who are unable to undertake placement will be unable to successfully complete the course.
