    Learning and Support Services

    At Chisholm we believe in supporting our students for success, both in and out of the classroom.

    Learning and Support Services offer a range of programs, activities and services which aim to support and enhance your student experience.

    Our services include:

     

    Library and Information Centre

    The Library and Information Centre provides access to a range of resources and services along with a comfortable space to study.

    Our staff can assist you in:

    • finding information and connecting you with resources and services to support your studies
    • IT support including connecting to Wi-Fi
    • assistance with assignment binding, laminating, photocopying,  printing and scanning.

    Disability support

    Disability support assists students with diagnosed disabilities to access a full range of educational opportunities.

    Support is negotiated on an individual basis, so contact a Disability Officer as early as possible prior to the commencement of classes.

    Careers and employment 

    We provide advice and assistance on a range of career and job related topics including:

    • careers counselling
    • job search techniques
    • resume checking service 
    • interview preparation
    • course specific career events
    • online resources including the myJobs student employment website.

    Counselling and support

    We can assist you with advice and referrals to support personal concerns including:

    • stress and anxiety
    • relationship problems
    • depression
    • grief and loss
    • conflict, including issues of harassment or bullying
    • financial concerns
    • other issues impacting on your studies.

    Koorie services

    The Koorie Liaison Unit provides a link between services at Chisholm and Indigenous students, from course enrolment to completion.

    Support includes course advice and information, study and cultural support, scholarship information, ABSTUDY assistance, and access to careers and employment advice.

    The Koorie Liaison Unit is also available to advocate on behalf of students on most academic and cultural matters.

    Essential skills for study success

    Learning Skills can help you develop essential skills for success in your studies.

    We can assist you with:

    • how to write an essay or report
    • referencing and bibliographies
    • preparation for exams and test
    • numeracy and literacy
    • time management
    • giving presentations.

    International student programs 

    The International Student Programs Office is a place where international students can go if they need information, support or other assistance.

    International students should contact the office for:

    • course transfer advice
    • letters for attendance or other letters for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship
    • leave or withdraw from your studies
    • changing or upgrading your Overseas Student Health Cover
    • changing your visa status.

    Apprenticeship support

    Apprenticeship Support Officers  and Apprenticeship Field Officers provide free, confidential advice or help with work, training or personal issues that are coming between you and your apprenticeship.
