    This is a pre-employment (pre-apprenticeship) program fully accredited by the State Government of Victoria and widely accepted by relevant sectors of industry. Industry demand for new apprentices is very high and over one third of all job vacancies in manufacturing are for trade qualified people. Completion of an apprenticeship also opens up another world of highly rewarding opportunities in Technician, Sales and Engineering Management careers. Prepares students for employment in the metals industry as an apprentice, trainee or trades assistant in sheet metal (Fabrication), Welding, Fitting & Machining (Mechanical), Boiler making (Heavy Fabrication) and Toolmaking.

    Entry requirements: No formal requirements, however the course is designed for Year 10 to Year 12 students.

    Applying and Enrolling

    To enrol at Chisholm, you need to apply, and then be accepted. Procedures to apply for courses vary. A TAFE application may go through VTAC, for example. In other cases the application may be direct to Chisholm or through your employer or school.

    With a successful Chisholm Institute of TAFE application, in some cases,  you may need to attend an information session or submit a portfolio prior to completing your enrolment.
