    Certificate I in Vocational Preparation (X-press Program)

    The X-Press program is aimed at 14 and 9 months to 16 years olds currently at risk of leaving the mainstream education system. It provides an alternative for one term of the school year and combines elements of personal development focussing on communication and personal effectiveness, where the student is encouraged to make decisions that will promote positive outcomes in terms of future pathways.

    In this course, students will look at the issues of risk - specifically relating to drugs and alcohol, road safety and first aid - as a means to recognising behaviour that limits future options. The course aims to have students become more aware of themselves and their impact on others, and develop a positive view of their future options or directions, in relation to returning to study or undertaking a pathway toward rewarding employment options.
    Areas of study include: Safe Food Handling, Drugs and Alcohol Education, Nutrition, Orientation to Work, Personal Effectiveness, First Aid, OH&S and Information Technology.

    Applying and Enrolling

    To enrol at Chisholm, you need to apply, and then be accepted. Procedures to apply for courses vary. A TAFE application may go through VTAC, for example. In other cases the application may be direct to Chisholm or through your employer or school.

    With a successful Chisholm Institute of TAFE application, in some cases,  you may need to attend an information session or submit a portfolio prior to completing your enrolment.
