An exciting partnership between Chisholm and La Trobe University has been formed to enable you to get university qualified without having to travel across town.

    This unique three-year degree program combines a first year of TAFE qualification with a further two years to complete your university qualification.

    You’ll gain a Certificate IV in Accounting and the Diploma of Accounting by completing these components at Chisholm. Both qualifications are nationally recognised and you’ll be accredited by the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) and the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

    Graduates of the Bachelor of Accounting will be eligible for membership with CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

    By successfully completing specified units within the Chisholm Diploma in the first year, you will be given 8 credit points. These credit points will count towards the 24 credit points required to complete La Trobe University’s Bachelor of Accounting degree.

    Sample units of study include: Cost Accounting and Decision Making; Corporate Reporting; Law of Business Association; Organisational Behaviour; Business Planning for Entrepreneurs; Management Accounting and Cost Control; Business Ethics; Organisational Structure and Design; Advanced Financial Accounting; Auditing; Finance; Leadership: What Matters; Taxation; Companies, Sustainability and Design; Interpersonal Skills and Conflict Management; Organisational Change and Development

    Chisholm and La Trobe have predetermined the credit transfers based on the units completed in your course.

    Entry requirements: Year 12 (VCE), or mature age for entry into Certificate IV and Diploma of Accounting. For entry into La Trobe second year - successful completion of Certificate IV and Diploma of Accounting under the FNS10 training package or successful completion under the FNS04 training package with the appropriate units for articulation.

    Applying and Enrolling

    To enrol at Chisholm, you need to apply, and then be accepted. Procedures to apply for courses vary. A TAFE application may go through VTAC, for example. In other cases the application may be direct to Chisholm or through your employer or school.

    With a successful Chisholm Institute of TAFE application, in some cases,  you may need to attend an information session or submit a portfolio prior to completing your enrolment.
