Courses in Sport, Recreation, Fitness and Well-being can be undertaken either full-time or part-time. Many courses are available as traineeships which offer a valuable combination of on-the-job experience with structured training.
Chisholm can provide excellent specialist facilities, on-site, that few smaller training organisations can match. In many cases the facilities represent the latest in learning technology. As a student it means you can more effectively develop the skills you learn in the classroom. You’ll find having access to these facilities also makes the transition to the workplace easier.
Chisholm's wide range of Sport and Recreation facilities include the Berwick Recreation Centre. This state-of-the-art facility consists of active teaching areas for Sport, Recreation and Fitness programs, including multi-purpose indoor sport courts, gymnasium, group fitness studio, program rooms and a general purpose classroom. This purpose built facility will also be available to students outside of classes for informal activities or to just relax during down times.
Chisholm graduates have been highly successful in securing ongoing employment in these areas or being accepted for further study at the tertiary level. This is due in no small part to the recognition by industry and employers of the quality training provided by Chisholm.
The sport and recreation sector has a wide ranging impact on Australian society. Over 70 per cent of people in Victoria participate in some form of sport and recreation. The sector employs about 80,000 people - growing at a faster rate than any other industry.
Significant employment growth is expected for fitness instructors, massage therapists, sport event and facility management occupations, outdoor activity leaders, sports coaches and aquatic instructors.
