The Graphic Design teachers at Chisholm are all fully qualified experts with many years of industry and teaching experience. Courses are monitored by an industry-based advisory group to ensure a constant link with current industry practice.
The Graphic Design studio at Chisholm utilises state of the art computer equipment in fully equipped studios comprising Apple Macintosh computers, scanners, printers and digital cameras. All software is of industry standards and includes Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and Flash.
At Chisholm, entering into the Graphic Design stream is made as easy as possible. You can do a short course or (if you’re eligible) go straight into one of the more demanding qualifications. This approach worked for current Graphic Design student Philip Dupuy who completed a Certificate II in Printing and Graphic Arts (Desktop Publishing) then tackled a Certificate IV in Design. He’s currently half-way through the Diploma of Graphic Design and is loving it.
Graphic design has changed dramatically over recent years with industry studios and agencies needing students to have a basic skill in animation. The first year of the Bachelor of Interactive Multimedia introduces the art of animation using a variety of techniques including traditional 2D animation, claymation, stop motion and pixilation.
With a Graphic Design Department that has been in existence for over 30 years, Chisholm can safely lay claim to being one of the leading providers of training to this sector in Victoria. The Department presents courses that enable students to develop technical and creative capabilities in the process of producing a portfolio of quality artwork.
The programs that the Graphic Design department at Chisholm run includes the Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design. The effort that the Graphic Design team put into each student is reflected in the high success rate that graduates experience when seeking jobs in the industry.
Many of the Bachelor of Interactive Multimedia students have entered into the degree course by taking advantage of the pathways available from the diploma and advanced diploma of graphic design courses.
Texturing, lighting and modelling and sometimes animation using the software Maya are used in 3D visualisation. Specialising in 3D visualisation including producing product design, architectural designs or character design.

Course hours per week maybe less than full time but take longer to complete.

Students enrolling in a govt-subsidised course up to Cert IV who hold a current Commonwealth Healthcare Card, Pensioner Concession Card or Veterans' Gold Card (or who are the dependent spouse of a cardholder) are eligible for concessions.Students who were under 25 at Jan 1 2012, and are continuing in the diploma or advanced diploma they enrolled in prior to July 1, 2012, will also be eligible for a concessions if they hold a current Commonwealth Healthcare Card, Pensioner Concession Card or Veterans' Gold Card (or are the dependent a cardholder). Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders will be eligible for concessions for any level course. Full details about concessions

To enrol at Chisholm, you need to apply, and then be accepted. Procedures to apply for courses vary. A TAFE application may go through VTAC, for example. In other cases the application may be direct to Chisholm or through your employer or school.
With a successful Chisholm Institute of TAFE application, in some cases, you may need to attend an information session or submit a portfolio prior to completing your enrolment.
