Diploma leads to beautiful reward
Chisholm continues to demonstrate its outstanding ability to consistently deliver high quality hair and beauty training with the recent success of Sharna Heitman - Diploma of Beauty Therapy.
At a glittering awards ceremony held in June this year at Docklands Melbourne, the Hair and Beauty Industry Association awarded Sharna “Vocational Outstanding Student – Diploma of Beauty Therapy.”
Lorraine McCaffery, Beauty Coordinator at Berwick and her colleagues, nominated Sharna for the HBIA accolade after she won Chisholm’s own Outstanding Student Award for Diploma of Beauty Therapy in 2010. Sharna who is 25, was required to sit a panel style interview, competing against students from RTOs all over Victoria.
Currently working at Endota Chadstone and running her own home/mobile business, Sharna achieved high distinction grades in all units of the 18 month Diploma course at Chisholm and is considering purchasing her own Endota franchise. Sharna attributes her career success to the training she obtained at Chisholm. “It has been such a blessing to have trained with the necessary skills at Chisholm to meet the demands of clients,” she says.
Sharna continues to develop her beauty therapy skills with further training as well as building on her business acumen. She has been invited to give feedback to the Chisholm Institute of TAFE Industry Advice panel and says she will provide an outside eye to the ongoing development of current students undertaking the Diploma programme at Chisholm. “I’m looking forward to giving back to the college now that I’m working in the industry,” she says.
