    Essential skills for study success

    The Learning Skills Unit can help you develop essential skills for success in your studies.


    We can assist you with:

    • How to write an essay or report
    • Referencing and bibliographies
    • Preparation for exams and test
    • Numeracy and literacy
    • Time management
    • Giving presentations.

    Support is available through one-on-one appointments, in-class workshops or open sessions in the library.

    Library services

     

    The Chisholm Library provides access to a range of resources along with a comfortable space to study.

    Our professional staff can assist you in finding information, help you connect to the Institute’s wi-fi service and provide assistance with assignment binding, laminating, photocopying,  printing and scanning.

    Prefer to work from home? We also offer live, online support during business hours.

    Disability support

     

    The disability support service assists students with disabilities to access a full range of educational opportunities.

    Support may include access to note-takers, alternative assessment arrangements, special equipment, in-class support, course material presented in an alternative format, interpreters for the deaf or special consideration.

    Support is negotiated on an individual basis, so contact a Disability Officer as early as possible prior to the commencement of classes.

    Student Advisory Services provide a range of services to support you both professionally and personally throughout your journey at Chisholm including:.

    Koorie services

    The Koorie Liaison Unit provides a link between services at Chisholm and Indigenous students, from course enrolment to completion.

    Support includes course advice and information, study and cultural support, scholarship information, ABSTUDY assistance, and access to careers and employment advice.

    The Koorie Liaison Unit is also available to advocate on behalf of students on most academic and cultural matters.

    International student programs 

    The International Student Programs Office is a place where international students can go if they need information, support or other assistance.

    International students should contact the office for:

    • Course transfer advice
    • Letters for attendance or other letters for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship
    • Leave or withdraw from your studies
    • Changing or upgrading your Overseas Student Health Cover
    • Changing your visa status

    Apprenticeship support

    Apprenticeship Support Officers (ASOs) provide free, confidential advice and assistance to first year apprentices under 25.

    Your ASO can help with work, training or personal issues that are coming between you and your apprenticeship.
